New Jalpaiguri to Peshok - The distance from Njp station to the Peshok is about 60 kilometers. It takes about 2:30 hours to reach Peshok by private car from outside the station. Car rental fluctuates between 2500-3000 rupees depending on the season.

Hotel or Homestay - Peshok is a new offbeat tourist destination. Which is slowly becoming popular by word of mouth. So there is no hotel here. There are a few homestays. One of the most comfortable home stays is Subba Home Stay of Puran ji. The cost per person (including bed tea, breakfast,lunch, dinner and supper) to stay here is 1200-1300 rupees (depending on the season). Puran Ji and his wife are in charge of the home stay. The cooking is awesome. From the balcony of the home stay there is a great view with Kanchenjunga at the back and a sprawling tea garden at the front.

Places to visit from Peshok - From Peshok you can take a private car to Tribeni (meeting place of Teesta and Rangit), Lovers Meat View Point, Takdah Orchid Garden, Tinchule View Point, Lamahata Park etc. The car will charge near about 3000 Rs. There is also a Virgin Falls in Peshok. If you talk to Puran Ji in advance, Puran Ji will take you there. Here you have to trek the whole road. It takes about 2:30 hours.

My experience - In New Jalpaiguri, we all got down on the platform with all our luggage and stopped together. We saw Kanchenjunga in front of our eyes, as if he had come to announce our arrival. We were told earlier in our home system for a car. So we had breakfast from the station and drove out for our destination. It took exactly 2:30 hours to reach Peshok by crossing the Teesta Bridge along Sebak Road.
Puran ji had arranged for lunch. We had a fresh lunch and went to sleep. After making tea in the evening, Puran Ji took us around to see the surrounding area. After descending the mountain in the evening, everything goes quiet. The cold was good 6 °-7°C. Puran ji took us to a store and suggested Momo and a drink with him for food, which would help keep the body warm in the cold.

The next day, Puran Ji took us walked around the village of Peshok. He fed us the water of the mountain spring.

নিউ জলপাইগুড়ি থেকে পেশকের দূরত্ব - স্টেশন থেকে পেষকের দূরত্ব মোটামুটি ৭০ কিলোমিটার। স্টেশন এর বাইরে থেকে প্রাইভেট গাড়িতে করে পেশক যেতে সময় লাগে ২:৩০ ঘণ্টার কাছাকাছি। গাড়ি ভাড়া ২৫০০-৩০০০ টাকার মধ্যে ওঠা নামা করে সিজন অনুযায়ী।

হোটেল অথবা হোমস্টে- পেশক একটা নতুন টুরিস্ট স্পট। যেটা ধীরে ধীরে লোক মুখে প্রচারিত হয়ে জনপ্রিয় হয়ে উঠছে। তাই এখানে কোনো হোটেল নেই। অল্প কয়েকটি হোমস্টে রয়েছে। তার মধ্যে আরাম দায়ক একটি হোম স্টে হলো পুরান জির সুব্বা হোম স্টে। এখানে থাকা খাওয়া নিয়ে জনপ্রতি খরচ ১২০০-১৩০০ টাকা (সিজন অনুযায়ী)। পুরান জী এবং ওনার স্ত্রী হোম স্টের দায়িত্বে আছেন। রান্নাবান্না অসাধারণ। হোম স্টে এর ব্যালকনি থেকে পেছন দিকে দেখা যায় কাঞ্চনজঙ্ঘা এবং সামনের দিকে বিস্তৃত চা বাগান সহ একটি দুর্দান্ত দৃশ্য।

পেশক সম্পর্কে আমার অভিজ্ঞতা - নিউ জলপাইগুড়িতে সমস্ত লাগেজ নিয়ে প্লাটফর্মে নেমেই আমরা সবাই একসাথে স্তব্ধ। চোখের সামনে দেখতে পেলাম কাঞ্চনজঙ্ঘা, যেনো আমাদের আগমন জানাতেই এসেছে। আমাদের হোম স্স্টে তে আগেই বলা ছিলো গাড়ির জন্য। তাই আমরা স্টেশন থেকেই ব্রেকফাস্ট করে গাড়ি নিয়ে বেরিয়ে পরলাম পেশকের উদ্দেশ্যে। সেবক রোড ধরে তিস্তা ব্রিজকে পাশ কাটিয়ে পেশক পৌঁছতে সময় লাগলো ঠিক ২:৩০ ঘণ্টা। পুরান জী লাঞ্চ এর ব্যবস্থা করে রেখেছিল। আমরা ফ্রেশ হয়ে লাঞ্চ করে ঘুমিয়ে পরলাম।
সন্ধ্যে বেলা চা করে দেবার পর পুরান জী নিয়ে গেলো আশপাশের জায়গা টা একটু ঘুরিয়ে দেখাতে। পাহাড়ে সন্ধ্যে নামার পর পরই সব শান্ত হলে যায়। ঠান্ডা ছিলো ভালই ৬°-৭° । পুরান জী আমাদের কাছেই একটি দোকানে নিয়ে গিয়ে মোমো এবং তার সাথে একটা পানীয় সাজেস্ট করলো খাবার জন্য, যেটা নাকি ঠান্ডায় শরীর গরম রাখতে সাহায্য করে।

পুরান জী কে আগে থেকে জানিয়ে রাখলে সেই ব্যাবস্থাও হয়ে যাবে।
